Free online map of FranceIn eight level of zoom French route finderClick on the British flag to get it in English. There are 'from' 'to' route maps and town maps. If you are printing out the maps of your route in France, it's a good idea to print both ways, i.e. Calais to Rouen and Rouen to Calais (or wherever), as the signs ('follow route for') will change on the way back.
French Regions and Departments: France is made up of 22 regions (for example Brittany - there is a map showing the regions at the bottom of this page). Each of these regions is subdivided into numbered departments (Brittany being made up of Finisterre(29) Cotes d'Armor(22) Morbihan(56) and Ille et Vilaine (35)). if you want to see what the regions within a French department are, click here. The departments are listed in numerical order here (this also goes on to show the prefectures - regional administrative centres and where each department is.). The department numbers are the basis for French post codes. So post code 29123 indicate that the place is in department 29 - Finisterre. If you know the postcode, you can put it into the online maps above to 'zoom in' on the place.

Maps WorldwideThe UK's largest Internet map and travel guide shop with more than 10,000 products covering 200 countries. They accept all the major credit cards and use secure servers. I’ve only scratched the surface of what this site has to offer. With titles like Calvados by Bicycle and Walking Paris: ('this book takes you on a tour of the French capital, providing the keys with which to unlock some of the city's most fascinating secrets.') and the most comprehensive list of French maps I've seen outside France, I could (and probably will) spend hours here. |
